Instructions
- 1
Brown 1 lb ground beef with 1 chopped onion. Drain. Add 1 packet taco seasoning + ¼ cup water; simmer 5 min.
- 2
Heat 8 hard taco shells per package directions (usually 5 min in 350°F oven).
- 3
Prep toppings: 1 cup shredded lettuce, 1 cup shredded cheddar, 1 cup chopped tomato, ½ cup sour cream, ½ cup salsa, sliced jalapeños, chopped cilantro.
- 4
Build each taco: shell, 2 tablespoons beef, sprinkle of cheese (melts on hot beef), shredded lettuce, tomato, sour cream, salsa.
- 5
Top with cilantro, jalapeños, optional sliced avocado.
- 6
Serve immediately with extra napkins. Eat tilted — crunchy shells crack at the bottom and filling falls out the bottom otherwise.

- 4.Eat tilted to prevent filling escape.
🔬 Why It Works
Crispy hard-shell tacos succeed with the contrast of crunchy shell, seasoned beef, melted cheese, and cool fresh toppings. The structural challenge (shells crack at the bottom) is part of the eating experience.
